The Solana Beach Junior Lifeguards, one of San Diego County's longest running and most established water safety programs, returns to the beach for another year this summer. The comprehensive program is under the direction of the City of Solana Beach's Marine Safety Unit.
A four week and two week Ocean Safety Program for Boys and Girls age 7 to 17 begins in June. Dates and times are listed in the flyer you can download above. The program is designed to develop and build self esteem, lifesaving skills and techniques, physical fitness, and respect and appreciation of the ocean environment.
The maximum enrollment for each session is 100 students unless otherwise authorized by the City Manager and Marine Safety Captain.
Participants in the program learn general water safety through a variety of techniques including games and competitions, lectures, surfing, body boarding, swimming, skin-diving, special guest visits, and training with lifeguard emergency equipment.
