Solana Beach is a General Law City operated by a Council/Manager form of government. The City Council serves as the legislative body and consists of five City Council members, one of whom is chosen to act as Mayor for a one-year term on a rotating basis. Each Council member serves a four-year term.
Regular Council meetings are held on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers (635 S. Hwy. 101, Solana Beach, CA 92075). Council meetings are broadcast live on Cox Communications Channel 19 and Time Warner Channel 24. The Council agenda material can be viewed on the web at www.ci.solana-beach.ca.us. A full Council agenda packet with all backup information is available at City Hall and the Solana Beach Branch of the San Diego County Library the Friday before each Council meeting.
